Upstairs, under the eaves, Le Grenier de Joseph (“Joseph’s Granary”) occupies what was probably the farm’s loft, where grain and hay were once carried up to be kept safe until winter. It is reached by a shared staircase leading to a landing, from which the apartment has its own front door: all the privacy of a home of your own, under the roof of the longère. It welcomes two adults and up to two children, with its two single beds and sofa bed, for a stay with family or friends. Its name recalls Joseph, sold by his brothers and taken to Egypt, whom God had set apart to fill the granaries of the land and feed his people in a time of famine: a place, likewise, set apart, to stock up on rest and find peace again.
